RSS Really Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0). It is a system for sites like blogs, podcasts and social calendars, that change content frequently. The RSS document, which is called a "feed," usually has the headlines or the full text. With RSS you can subscribe to the feed and read the headlines without checking in on the site each day. You can visit the site when a headline catches your eye.

To read the RSS content you will need a "feed reader" or an "aggregator." Popular browser based readers are Google Reader, Newsgator or Bloglines.

You subscribe to a feed by clicking an RSS icon in a browser which looks like this feed_icon
or entering the feed's link into a reader. The reader like Google reader, checks your subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloading any updates that it finds.
